Volume 1 · Week 4 — Listening to God’s Voice
Day 24 — God Speaks to Us through His Word
Main verse
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
— Psalm 119:105 (KJV)
Meditation
We sometimes want God to speak to us in an extraordinary way: an audible voice, an unmistakable sign, or a sudden answer. Yet God has already entrusted us with a reliable and accessible way to know his mind: the Scriptures.
The Bible is not a magic book to open at random for an instant answer. It is a story to spend time with, a truth to ponder, and a light intended to shape our conscience gradually.
A lamp does not always illuminate the whole road. Often, it shows only the next step. God’s Word works in this way. It does not necessarily satisfy every curiosity, but it gives us enough light to move forward faithfully today.
When we read slowly and prayerfully, an ancient word can speak to a very present situation. A command corrects us. A promise sustains us. A story reveals our own heart. A word from Jesus redirects our priorities.
Before seeking a new revelation, let us ask whether we truly take time to listen to what God has already revealed.
Psalm
Psalm 119:130 (KJV)
130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

Prayer
Lord, open my understanding as I read your Word. Keep me from reading superficially or merely to serve my own interests. May the Scriptures illuminate my decisions, correct my thoughts, and nourish my hope. Show me the next step and give me faith to take it. Amen.
A thought to keep
God lights my path when I open his Word with a willing heart.
