Volume 1 · Week 1 — A New Beginning

Day 2 — The Grace of a New Morning

Main verse

“It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”

— Lamentations 3:22–23 (KJV)

Meditation

Morning does not ask the night for permission to appear. Slowly, almost silently, the light returns. It does not deny what happened the day before, but it announces that darkness does not have the last word.

Sometimes we carry yesterday’s weariness, regrets, and worries into the new day. Our bodies have risen, but our hearts remain shut inside what has not been resolved. Yet every morning brings a particular grace: God gives us life, time, and the possibility of moving forward once again.

God’s faithfulness does not depend on how well we did yesterday. His compassion is not exhausted when we have done wrong, doubted, or lacked courage. It comes to us like daylight: quietly, faithfully, freely offered.

We cannot always change what happened yesterday. But we can receive today as fresh ground. Grace does not erase the past; it keeps us from remaining its prisoners.

Let us therefore open this day without demanding that it be perfect. Let us simply receive it as a sign that God has not finished His work in us.

Psalm

Psalm 30:1–5 (KJV)

1 I will extol thee, O LORD ; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me. 2 O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me. 3 O LORD , thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. 4 Sing unto the LORD , O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. 5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for this morning, which I have neither created nor earned. Help me not to let yesterday’s shadows obscure today’s grace. Renew my courage, clear my vision, and teach me to receive this day as a gift of Your faithfulness. Amen.

A thought to keep

Every morning brings a grace that the previous day could not give.
