Volume 1 · Week 5 — The Word That Gives Life
Day 35 — Let the Word Dwell Among Us
Main verse
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; […]”
— Colossians 3:16 (excerpt) (KJV)
Meditation
We can hear the Word without truly giving it a home. It then passes through our day without finding a place in our relationships, our decisions, or our shared life.
Paul addresses the whole community: let the word of Christ dwell richly among you. It remains in our midst when we teach, encourage, and correct one another with wisdom. It also dwells in each of us, returning to mind during a difficult conversation, guiding our attitude toward an injustice, and reminding us of grace when we have failed.
For the Word to remain, we must give it time. Reading, meditation, memorization, and prayer allow it to move from the mind to the heart. The aim is not to collect verses like trophies, but to let truth gradually shape our character.
Jesus compares this fellowship to branches attached to the vine. A branch does not produce fruit through isolated effort. It bears fruit because it remains connected to the source of life.
The Word that gives life then becomes a word lived out: it produces patience, compassion, justice, forgiveness, and hope.
Psalm
Psalm 119:11 (KJV)
11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

Prayer
Lord, may your Word do more than pass through my mind. May it dwell deeply within me, shape my thoughts, and direct my actions. Keep me connected to Jesus so that my life may bear fruit that glorifies you and brings good to those around me. Amen.
A thought to keep
The Word bears fruit when it remains within me and shapes my life.
